readers of this blog will know that for me, wine is all about pleasure.  in fact, i believe that who we drink with, the location and the occasion contribute a great deal to that pleasure and as such, wine is a wonderful companion to this trio.  each person, each place, and each moment has its perfect match.

lately, i have discovered another type of wine.  a wine that, beyond simply giving pleasure, stirs deep emotions, touches the soul, and, ultimately, haunts forever...

i call it a "Beautiful” Wine...

there are no expectations with a Beautiful Wine… in its presence, there is no past, no future, only the moment. it feels comfortably familiar yet, it is deeply mysterious. it gives a sense of peace while at the same time, it enthralls completely. it invites to explore the senses in ways rarely explored. it arouses deep and intense emotions… emotions that are raw and very real...

in appearance, it is a pure delight to look at.  flawless in its own unique way.  the curves of the clear glass reveals facets more beautiful than previously thought possible.  its beauty hints at the promise of what is yet to come...

its perfume triggers magnificent dreams.  it is impossible to resist. it excites the senses beyond all rationality penetrating the soul and possessing it absolutely. it stimulates curiosity and titillates the imagination transporting to a far away place and to a timeless moment of pure joy....

its palate is gentle, soft but firm all at once. it is characterised by a certain energy and vivacity that is natural, and oh so seductive. it surprises with each twist and turn slowly and shyly revealing secrets after secrets. the combination of its perfume and of its caress provokes intense emotions of deep ecstasy. everlasting, it is impossible to let it go.  it makes itself felt forever, finishing with a delicate and tender sigh, eternal, unforgettable and haunting...

such is for me a “Beautiful” Wine…

…starting this month, i will publish regular tasting notes on these pages and will attempt to describe, even if words are much too often inadequate in these types of situation, the deep emotions that a beautiful wine makes me feel as i taste it...
