1982, the Bordeaux that made R. Parker...

A very special tasting w/ HK Wine Society...

Our choice as a a group this evening was Ch. Canon. A beautiful wine. A well traveled aristocrat. Smooth & suave, w/ a scent of musk & tobacco... Still vibrant & intense w/ a savoury, complex finish... Absolutely wonderful....

Robert Parker gave it 93. We think it should have been scored higher!

The others, in order of group rank w/ Robert Parker's scores in bracket:

  1. Ch. Prieure-Lichine
  2. Ch Léoville-Lascases
  3. Ch. Cos D'Estournelle (95)
  4. Ch. L'Évangile
  5. Ch. Pichon-Lalande (100)
  6. Ch. Troplot-Mondot (79)
  7. Ch. Magdelaine (87)
  8. Ch. Calon-Ségur
  9. Ch. Le Gay (97)
  10. Ch. Figeac (94)

Only the Cos continued to show well 1 hour after our ranks had been calculated & filed.  In fact, I was astonished to discover it was still quite firm w/ good concentration remaining.  Certainly it's finish was extremely long & intense.  A keeper for sure.
