Barone Pizzini @ Vinitaly 2013 - Wonderful Sparkling Wines...
Vinitaly, the largest wine fair in the world, is a terrific opportunit to taste the wines of all regions of Italy. With over 4,000 exhibitors, there is no reason not to discover some fantastic producers along the way.
Key to my visit is to taste the wines of unfamiliar regions so that I can understand that make the wines tick and meet the people behind the energy behind those appellations.
It was a delight to meet Silvio Brescianni, the managing director of Barone Pizzini, not only because of his tremendous knowledge of the sparkling wine production, but mainly because of intense passion for his winery and for what he does.
I love their Rosé made 100% with Pinot Noir in the macerated method & oak ageing for the 1st wine & 30 months on lees for the 2nd. Beautiful light pink color w/ a touch salmon hues. Lovely aromatics with beautiful integration showing lovely toasts, delicate notes of roasted strawberries & baked almonds. Caressing texutre with an ethereal mousse, oh-so gentle. Vibrant & everlasting finish. A lovely lovely wine!
