a lovely dinner at bar agricole in san francisco...
with all the rage going in san francisco about "artisanal cocktails" it is only normal that bars and restaurants would be created around this theme. bar agricole, however, has pushed the concept a little further. the name itself was cleverly chosen to tie-in 2 themes: spirits and products of the farm. Indeed, the "agricole" in the name comes from the rum produced in the french territories of the caribbean of which only the martinique as an aoc mark for the spirit. agricole in french means "product of the farm" and so, in keeping with the concept, they have decided to source all of their food from organic and bio-dynamic farms in the northern parts of california. and so, the menu changes regularly and the food is seasonal. but environmental concerns do not stop there. the restaurant itself was decorated using recycled materials with furniture made using oak from a 100 year old from iowa, walls beautifully covered with woods from used sherry casks, and the chairs from oak barrels used for ageing cabernet sauvignon in the sonoma valley. our meal was super tasty and the wine by the glass list very interesting for wine lover. definitely recommended...
