Highlight: Villa Almè El Rásego Raboso Passito

"Wine loving" is for me to drink wine w/ the spirit of an "Adventurer": to open a bottle & discover something new.

At "Taste Like A Pro Sweet Wines of Italy" @ Vinitaly International stand last week, we certainly had a unique experience. A wine made with black Raboso grapes over-ripped on the vines & then dried 4 months on wooden racks. Macerated on the skin & aged for 3 years in oak barrels,

The wine was deep garnet color w/ a wonderfully intense nose. Aromas dried prunes, cranberries & violets w/ notes of sweet spices & figs. Very complex. Sweet but lifted by a fresh acidity & a rich caressing texture giving it a super silky mouthfeel. Fruity & spicy finish.
