Rosso Venissa 2011 - A Sunset "En-Primeur" Tasting...

I was fortunate last week to taste the newly released Rosso Venissa 2011 during a stunning sunset cruise before it was even introduced to the italian press on last Sunday.

Planted 40 years ago on a "secret" island in a fascinating and mysterious part of the venitian lagoon, the grapes of merlot and carmenère make up the blend. Only 4476 bottles were produced. Bottled in a beautiful creation by Giovanni Moretti, one of the most outstanding designer of venitian glassworks, its label, a copper leaf is applied by hand & re-fired in the ovens of the "Carlo Moretti" Glassworks on the island of Murano.

More details in the next issue of Spirito Di Vino Asia in which I will describe in full my experience at this "extreme" & very unique winery in the middle of Venice!
