Tramin Nussbaumer Gewürztraminer '11 - A Work Of Art...

Often in class, I will compare an outstanding wine to a work of art so much it generates intense emotions that, all too often, words can not properly describe...

As I poured a glass of the Nussbaumer last night, this was driven to me by Maria who told me that each time I open a bottle of this wine, she thinks of Lucio Fontana series of works "Concetto Spaziale", also known as "Tagli", or "cuts"...

In fact she was more spot on than she thought! Aparently that through this work, he wanted to "give the spectator an impression of spatial calm, of cosmic rigour, of serenity in infinity' & to "discover the space beyond"...

This is exactly how I felt as we were sipping, chatting about how our day had been...

To me, this wine is outstanding. Probably one of the best expressions of Gewürztraminer I have ever tasted...

The color is a beautiful light gold, pushing to the rim, a testament of its density. The nose explosive w/ beautiful aromas of tropical fruits & delicate flowers. Fresh lychees & peaches, tender spring rose petals w/ a touch of exotic spices of the far-east. Complex, intense, yet understated & elegant, graceful... The palate full, luscious, yet vibrant & nervous w/ a beautiful tension keeping it alive & fresh. The length long, and oh-so perfumed! Mouthwatering & caressing...

A beautiful wine from Italys's Alto Adige...
