10 years ago on 11 September, we served Fontodi's Chianti Classico @ our wedding in Tuscany & during the same moment, 100 km away, the grapes for their Vigna del Sorbo were ripening in their best vineyards in the Conca d'Oro... And so, we served it at our anniversary reception last night surrounded by the vines themselves...

Lovely to drink now. Bright ruby color, the nose displayed lovely ripe black & red fruits w/ delightful exotic spices & a touch balsamic. Notes of leather & a touch of smoke made it mouth-watering. Beautifully velvety texture showing integrated tannins & an excellent balance, testament that it has reached its ideal moment when it can be drunk on its own as much as w/ the lip-smacking grilled meats that Dario Cecchini- Macellaio prepared for us. The finish was engaging, long & exotic...

No wonder this wine is now Fontodi's "Gran Selezione", meaning it is its best wine within certified under the Chianti Classico DOCG...
