there is no denying from my part that i love pierre gagnaire's food (let's be clear that i do not know him personally, however i would love to have him over for dinner at my home for dinner - a leg of lamb of something simple like this of course...) so, perhaps it makes me biased, or perhaps not....

bottom line is that tonight at his restaurant on rue balzac in paris, i was absolutely thrilled!

the service was outstanding and so was the atmosphere... the food was as expected.. creative, unusual, and certainly intense. in fact, ther was a certain intensity of taste in each dishes that was challenging and mesmerizing all at once. all that i expect from pierre gagnaire. a certain unexpected pairing of various ingredients together with a certain concentration of aromas and flavors unlike most dishes i have had in the last several months. it was the density that was astonishing... flavous expected from a dish intensified to power 10. frankly, as much as i liked the lovely korean sommelier(e) who took care of me the whole evening, no wines could really match the dishes so assertive and individual they were and so powerful yet graceful they tasted...

below there are no pictures of dishes because tonight, i only had my iphone with me and the light was certainly not conducive to taking proper photographs, as much as i tried... frankly though, who cares because i as so enthralled on my dinner tha i forgot to take a picture of most of my dishes anyway...
