New Zealand Pinot Noir 2007 Tasting - Ages Beautifully...

Another great tasting with the Hong Kong Wine Society last night.  This time New Zealand Pinot Noir from the South Island.  All from 2007.

​When I travelled there in 2010, I thought of putting together this horizontal to compare and contrast Central Otago with Nelson and Marlborough.  Then, I was told that the 2007 would be a keeper and so, it was interesting to taste them last night, 6 years on.

What I love of the Hong Kong Wine Society tastings are the amazing opportunities it offers to taste and learn about some pretty fascinating wines.  Driven by the intense passion of its members who sometimes take years to prepare them, the tastings are fascinating in terms of their breath and depth of experience.

Madeira 1875... What Does It Taste Like??

Every time i join a tasting organised by Nigel and hosted by the HK Wine Society, I count my blessings.  And much I have to count!  Especially last month when we experienced quite a few "Old Madeiras".

In the flight, we had wines from 1875, 1900, 1920, 1968 and some younger wines.

What was wonderful to me was to try and understand the character of such old wines.  Very unique to say the least.  In part due to the grape and in part due to the production method these wines were made from.
