A Visit W/ Nat White @ Main Ridge Estate, A Humbling Experience..

Nat & his wife Rosalie White were the 1st to plant a vineyard in the beautiful Australian region of Mornington Peninsula in 1975. Many people thought they were crazy to consider this very cool climate...

But they were passionate about cool climate style of Pinot Noir, especially those of Burgundy, that they set out to do it anyway...

Over the course of 9 years, Nat studied viticulture & oenology by correspondence while holding a full time job as a civil engineer before he could devote himself full-time to the winery. His wife continued to work while he set the foundations to what is Main Ridge Estate today...It took 18 years before he turned a profit...

An endeavor & persistence that show in the wines. Absolutely lovely, w/ beautiful elegance & wonderful perfume. A caressing texture yet w/ a thrilling vibrancy...

80% of his wines are sold from the cellar door & the rest in a few restaurants in Melbourne. A pity that I can not get access to those wines in Hong Kong....

A must while visiting the Mornington!
